Felix Rosenqvist made history at the Indy 500

A dramatic finish decided this year’s Indy 500 – and a Swede was at the center of it all.

Felix Rosenqvist has won the Indy 500 for the first time in his career after one of the most dramatic finishes in the history of the race.

The Swede crossed the finish line just 23 thousandths of a second ahead of David Malukas after a nerve-wracking final lap at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The margin is the smallest ever in the classic race’s century-long history.

The victory also means Rosenqvist becomes the third Swedish winner of the Indy 500 of all time, following Kenny Bräck and Marcus Ericsson.

“This is the biggest thing I’ve experienced in my entire career,” says Felix Rosenqvist.

The Meyer Shank Racing driver was in the thick of the lead battle during the closing stages and managed to lunge past Malukas just before the finish line after an intense fight down the home stretch.

“I’m in shock. It was a crazy final lap and I managed to get past Malukas right at the finish line. I can’t describe what I’m feeling right now,” says Rosenqvist.

This year’s edition was the 110th in order and was held in front of over 350,000 spectators at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Scott McLaughlin finished third for Penske, while Pato O’Ward took fourth for McLaren. Rosenqvist’s teammate Marcus Armstrong claimed fifth place.
