Felix Rosenqvist hoping for a turnaround in Long Beach

Long Beach has been a successful track for Felix Rosenqvist in the past. Now the Swede is hoping for a change in momentum in IndyCar after a heavier start to the season.

Felix Rosenqvist gets a new chance this weekend to turn his season around as the IndyCar series visits the classic Long Beach for the year’s fifth round.

The historic street race in California is one of the best-known events on the calendar and has also been a track where Rosenqvist has felt at home. The Swede took pole position here in 2023 and was in the fight for a podium spot last year as well, before eventually finishing fourth.

Now the Meyer Shank Racing driver is hoping that the return to Long Beach will be the start of an upswing after a season opener that hasn’t quite gone his way.

Strong track record for Felix in Long Beach

Over the past few years, Long Beach has been one of the tracks where Felix Rosenqvist has shown his highest level in IndyCar. That makes this weekend’s race extra interesting for the Swede, who is chasing a clear change in momentum.

“I’m really looking forward to coming to Long Beach this weekend. It’s a track that has always suited me well, and it’s one of our biggest races outside of the Indy 500. The atmosphere is fantastic, and it’s an extremely satisfying track when you get it right,” says Rosenqvist.

After the most recent round at Barber, the work has been focused on finding the pace again that both Rosenqvist and the team know is there.

“I’ve worked hard after Barber to find my way back to the speed and potential that we know is there. Hopefully Long Beach is a clear step forward in that process,” he says.

Special design on the car in Long Beach

It’s not just on track that Rosenqvist’s car stands out this weekend. Meyer Shank Racing continues its partnership with SiriusXM, and this time the car gets a special design linked to the American band Green Day.
