Why this weekend is crucial for the Swedish F4 talent

Scott Kin Lindblom has had a strong start in British F4, but a challenge awaits at Brands Hatch where small mistakes can be costly.

The British F4 season rolls on at one of the UK’s most classic racing circuits.

This weekend, the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit awaits, where a record-breaking field of over 30 cars will battle it out in the second round of the year.

For Swedish Scott Kin Lindblom, qualifying will be extra important.

“Qualifying will be more important than ever this weekend,” says Scott Kin Lindblom.

The 15-year-old Red Bull Junior driver competes for Hitech GP and sits fourth in the British F4 Championship after the season opener at Donington Park in April. There, he opened the season with finishes of sixth, third, and third.

Scott Kin Lindblom fourth in the championship

Scott Kin Lindblom has had a strong start to his first British F4 season.

The premiere at Donington Park yielded two podium finishes and vital points in a field that is larger than ever this year. With over 30 cars on the grid, the margins are slim, especially on a short and intense track like Brands Hatch Indy.

For 2026, British F4 has also introduced a new points system for the second race, which is run with a reversed starting order. Drivers receive a bonus point for every position they gain compared to their starting position, up to a maximum of ten extra points.

The aim is to reward overtaking and the drivers’ ability to work their way through the field.

But at Brands Hatch, Lindblom believes it will still be crucial to start near the front.

“There are more points to play for, of course, but on such a short track, I think it’s extra important to qualify well, try to hold the position, and avoid incidents,” he says.

Classic short circuit awaits in Kent

Brands Hatch Indy Circuit is one of the most well-known short circuits in British motorsport.

The track is located in Kent and isn’t many kilometers long, but the compact layout means drivers rarely get a rest. The lap begins with the fast downhill plunge through Paddock Hill Bend before the field continues up towards the Druids hairpin.

A technical section then follows back towards the start-finish straight.

For young drivers in British F4, Brands Hatch will be a test of precision, confidence, and composure. The narrow track, elevation changes, and close barriers make mistakes expensive.

The car feels good

Preparations are already underway. Testing at Brands Hatch has been completed, and Scott Kin Lindblom was one of the fastest drivers.

“Yes, the car feels good, but as we all know, testing is one thing and racing is another. I always do my best and aim for top finishes,” says Scott.

This weekend’s round takes place on May 8–10 and consists of two free practice sessions, qualifying, and three races.
